Parent Teacher Organization Meeting

November 29, 2007

Thank you to those who were able to attend the meeting and we welcome others to join.

We made about $2,000.00 on the “Goods for the Woods” auction. We have looked at some PE equipment (cones, hurdles and foam balls) to purchase. The work has also started on the security cameras that will be going up.

The 3rd grade basket was auctioned for the highest amount at “Goods for the Woods” and they will have their extra recess on Friday, December 14th at 1:45pm. There will also be a popcorn sale for 4th and 5th graders that same day.

We will be selling 25˘ chances on a large stuffed Christmas stocking. The winner will be drawn during the program on December 19th.

Christmas at the OK Corral is the theme for the Christmas program on Wednesday, December 19th at 8:30am. Children may leave after performance.

T-shirt Contest – the 5th grade will be given instructions on what will be appropriate for the t-shirt art. The shirts will have the art work on the front and a motto on the back. All art work to be turned in by December 19th and will be hung in the 3rd and 4th grade hall for them to vote on. The voting will be done on January 3rd and 4th after the children return from Christmas break.

T-shirt orders will be taken from January 30th until February 15th. The turn around time is very short and we should have them by March 3rd.

The library is still looking for the following book sets if anyone has them and would like to donate them. We will also be placing an ad in the paper.

Goosebumps, Dear America, Captain Underpants, Junie B. Jones, Magic Treehouse, Bailey School Kids, Orphan Train Series, Judy Moody, Zack Files, Frog and Toad.

We received $23.94 on cell phones sent in for recycling. We also have several other recycling programs going on at present. Please check the bulletin board to find out what we are recycling.

We have talked about the possibility of a talent show/variety show at the end of the year to showcase students’ talents. We will keep you updated. If you have any ideas for fundraisers or if you can help in any way we encourage you to get involved with the PTO. Your kids will benefit form you involvement.

(As of 12-8-07 we have purchased 62 new books for the library via E-bay with a $200.00 pre-paid visa card that was purchased by the PTO. Mrs. Crow was very grateful!)

Merry Christmas from the Central Elementary PTO
