Senior Graduation pictures are now ready! I have sent the link to every seniors email. The photographer said the following: “The downloadable images is a gift to you from Idabel Public Schools! If you wish, you are able to purchase prints directly from the photographer, click the shopping cart on each image you wish to purchase." This was one of the best graduations I have had the pleasure to attend! I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to hopefully working for your district in the future.” Thanks, Kayla & Co. Event Photography P.S. I love this photo!!! Thank you so much Kayla for doing such an awesome job!~Principal Austin
Graduation is still on as scheduled. All of the rain will be cleared out by then. The coronavirus didn’t keep us down and prevent us from honoring our seniors and a little bit of rain sure won’t. No need to panic! Graduation is at 8 PM at Warrior Stadium!
Students will lineup in the student parking lot going towards the Courtyard like they do every year for Prom. They will drive through the Courtyard all the way to the front parking lot and there the valet parkers will take their car and we will announce them as guests. Parents and family who would like to take pictures park in the back and walk around to the front parking lot and take pictures by the front curb.
❤️🖤 We are doing good. So many people have helped. Only thing we still need is drinks and snacks. If people would like to put drinks in ice chest and drop off iced down that would be great. Also if you want to help but can’t get out please call a local pizza place and send a couple pizzas over tonight! Thank you so much everyone! Idabel is the best!
Vic Clay is going to help park cars. Kaelin Clay came by and helped a little bit earlier. Kelvin Johnson is here now. James and Johnna Smith are sending five pizzas. Every single bit helps. Thank you guys so much! We still need some more people to park and need snacks and help.
Junior and senior parents we need your help for the BASH tonight. Mrs. Farley has had a family emergency and we are wanting this thing to go off good for the kids. We still need drinks, snacks, and mainly help. At the moment I have one parent Becky Rogers Coursey and two kids Lauren Coursey and Caleb Sanchez here. Me and Harper are helping too. We still have a lot to do. I also would like to get another set of corn hole boards, and could use another couple of adults to help with parking cars tonight. I will be here until the time this starts I’m sure. Please come by as soon as you can. Thanks to the parents that have already came by and brought donations and snacks. Julie Dawson Rachel G. Surratt

On Friday morning, May 22, 2020, the OSSAA Board of Directors held a special meeting to discuss summertime athletic and band activities. The Board rejected strict COVID-19 restrictions and voted to conduct summertime activities in accordance with the current rules and policies as stated in the Administrators' Handbook. In other words, the Board will allow summer activities to resume as usual. The Association is giving local districts the power to choose how they will move forward. Idabel High School will join other schools in the state and reopen summer activities effective June 1. We are working on some simple yet safe procedures to ensure the safety and health of students, including cleaning protocols and physical distancing at games and events. Athletic Director Scott Pratt will post a detailed list of these protocols at the beginning of next week. Athletes should be on the lookout for communication from their coaches and directors regarding summer activities, resuming June 1. Go Warriors! Chad Austin, Principal Idabel High School

After being on the call with State Superintendent Hoffmeister then listening to Governor Stitt as he announced the phase 1 reopening of our state on May 1, I am optimistically ready to announce the dates for this year’s baccalaureate and graduation ceremonies. I have attached a flyer for each of these events and will be posting flyers for the other end-of-year events shortly. Please understand that circumstances could change due to this pandemic and the uncertainty that surrounds it. In order to put the safety of our students and families first, we will always follow CDC recommendations and the governor’s orders. At this time, I believe it is safe to schedule graduation in the summer. If things were to regress, we would look for an alternative way of having these events on the same dates. As of right now, though, we are scheduling a traditional graduation and baccalaureate service for the dates shown in the flyers. ~Principal Austin
We have several students that have not completed pre-enrollment. It is very important that all students complete this ASAP and return to your English teacher through google classroom or bring it by the HS and drop it off.

🖤❤️I just got off of a wonderful zoom meeting with IHS 2020-21 STUCO Officers. I am so encouraged after talking to these students and their wonderful leader Mrs. Bethany Farley. We talked about many exciting things such as graduation, a summer outdoor carnival/dance/prom, a back to school bash, a sunrise breakfast, a way to honor our awesome teachers, along with many other things. These kids are doing a great job and they are an inspiration to me! Go Warriors! ❤️🖤 (I asked in advance and they gave me permission to add their picture to this post.)
❤️🖤Last week at Idabel High School our attendance averaged at 91%; this was even after our slow start on Monday while we were getting devices checked out and assignments posted. I really want to send all praise to the teachers and students for getting everything accomplished to make this transition as smooth as possible. Students: thank you for your motivation last week and please strive to continue it through the end of the year. Make sure you are continuing to check your emails daily and logging in to complete all work in a timely manner. We only have 4 weeks left! Once again, I want to praise the faculty and staff at Idabel High School for stepping up and providing stellar instruction even in this time of chaos! Go Warriors.❤️🖤
Attention 2020 Seniors and Parents: Yesterday you should have received an email with a survey attached to it. This survey asks questions about graduation. I want to personally hear your opinion. Your matters to me, and I will do everything possible to make sure you are honored and get to have your special events that you so much deserve. Please take just a couple of minutes and fill out this survey. Make sure that you discuss these options with parents before making a decision. I will let you know the outcome of the survey as soon as it is completed. Thanks, Mr. Austin
Today was a great day! I had the opportunity to help deliver meals to the young men and women of Idabel Public Schools. What a great reminder of how fortunate we are to serve our community. It was so nice to see all the smiling faces of our Idabel Warrior family. Warrior Proud!
We have had several people ask about turning in textbooks and locks and here is our answer: During the week of May 1st - May 8th we will be accepting books, locks, and devices for turn in. We will not be accepting them before May 1st since we still have curriculum being conducted for which the textbooks may still be needed. Thank you to every person who has called to make appointments. We are trying to make everything as smooth as possible during this transition and appreciate your support and patience. Go Warriors!
Distance learning begins tomorrow. Attendance will be taken daily beginning tomorrow. Students should be checking their school email account and into each class daily. If a student does not have access to a device to complete virtual learning, the office should be contacted tomorrow and a time arranged to pick up class assignment materials. If students need to come on campus to retrieve items, call the office tomorrow to schedule a time to do so. -Mr. Austin
Idabel High School has created a guide for virtual learning. I hope that it has addressed all questions and concerns. Please follow the link below and it will lead you to the guide on our website. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me Monday morning when the office opens again. Thank you! Prinicpal Chad Austin http://www.idabelps.org/o/high-school/browse/119288
Idabel High School students and parents, First of all, I hope each one of you is staying well during this time of global uncertainty. With that being said, this message is to inform you that all classes begin again on Monday, April 6th. As students, you need to be checking your school email daily, beginning now. This is how each of your teachers will be communicating with you. Attendance will be taken for each class daily and there will also be multiple grades taken each week, so it is imperative that you log on and complete each assignment to its fullest. Although the remainder of the school year will be conducted online and off site, the office at the high school will be open starting Monday at 8 am. If any student or parent needs to come to the school to gather any items that may have been left in your locker over the break, please call the front office at 580-286-7693 to set up an appointment time to come to the school and grab it.
Parents and Students, Please make sure that all students are checking the school email they have daily. We are about to begin sending out information and pre-enrollment forms during the next couple of weeks. Your teachers are also going to start emailing each student and communicating how classes will be conducted during the remainder of the school year. School based email will be our main source of communication with one another. On a personal note, I want each one of you to know that I miss you dearly. I can’t wait until this is over and we are all together again. But I am not concerned because I know that you are some of the smartest, most capable students I have ever met. If anybody can get through this, you guys can. I promise you we are working our hardest to make sure that we honor our seniors and that we provide each of you with the best education possible. See you soon! Principal Chad Austin
Seniors and senior parents please check your email regularly. Mrs. White is going to be sending you important information about scholarships and graduation. Email is the easiest and most efficient way to communicate.
Good evening. This is an important message for Idabel Public Schools families. This afternoon, the state Board of Education voted to close all Oklahoma schools, effective immediately, until at least April 6 in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19. This means, following spring break, Idabel Public Schools‘ students will not return to school for at least two weeks, and possibly longer, if health officials deem it necessary. For more information about COVID-19 and for answers to questions about the school closure, please visit our website at www.idabelps.org. Again, there will be no school for Idabel Public School students until at least April 6. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding. Please be safe and have a wonderful evening.
❤️🖤Thank you to the Idabel Police Department for the use of the drug dog to conduct safety checks at Idabel High School this morning. It is one of our top priorities to maintain a drug free environment at Idabel High and I am please to announce that we had no incidents during the checks today.❤️🖤
IHS has a drivers education class starting April 6,2020. Students must be eligible academically. The cost is $150 for Idabel stduents. If you are already on the waiting list and have paid $150 your student is enrolled. Class must have 10 students to make and the limit is 15 students. If you have any questions contact Jeff Bell or the IHS office @ 286-7693.
❤️🖤Today Principal Chad Austin presented IHS teacher Jan Devore with the “Superhero Award”. Mrs. Devore devotes so much time and effort to Idabel High School and is an outstanding role model and teacher. She also directed the wonderful Miss IHS pageant in February. Mrs. Devore was presented with a $25 gift card to Taco Alley.❤️🖤
❤️🖤After speaking with our District Truancy Officer this afternoon, I am pleased to announce that for the 2019-2020 school year Idabel High School has maintained a 97.7% attendance rate. During the previous two years at Idabel High School, we were “dinged” due to chronic absenteeism. We made it our mission this year to correct that problem because loving our kids doesn’t mean excusing bad decisions, it means holding each student accountable. We would not have been able to be successful in our mission had it not been for the help of Richard Logan, District Truancy Officer and Brandy Krohn and her team at Youth Services. ❤️🖤 #ilovemykidsmore #promisingsuccessthroughaccountability
❤️🖤 Congratulations to Warrior Band! We earned 3 excellent certificates and 24 Superior medals today! That’s 3 ensembles and 17 solos advancing to State! I am so proud of of these kids and their awesome instructors!!!❤️🖤
❤️🖤 Congratulations to the 2020 Youth Tour winners from Idabel High School. Tucker Bundy and Kaelin Clay will represent their high school and Choctaw Electric Cooperative on an all expense paid trip to Washington DC in June of this year. Each of these students presented a 3 to 5 minute speech and a one on one interview with CEC board members. Great job!!! We are so proud of you both!!!❤️🖤
Very important information regarding school Friday! Please read all the way to the end! Idabel Public Schools will be having a "virtual day" Friday, February 28th. Your child will NOT come to school this day, but they will have an assignment online to complete. You will be required to "check in" online that day. Attendance will be counted just like a regular school day. The assignments will be something students can complete independently and will not take up a lot of time. We want to make this as convenient as we can for students and parents! With this option, we can have a virtual day for bad weather or other circumstances and not have to make up days at the end of the year. Many schools across the country have been doing virtual days for years so we are very excited to be offering this opportunity to our students!

Huge shout out to Richard Logan IPS truancy officer, IHS attendance committee, and IHS staff! Throughout the 1st nine weeks we maintained a 97% attendance rate at IHS! Last year chronic absenteeism was a huge problem! Not this year, thanks to the great work of IPS staff! Go Warriors!
I would like to give a big shout out to Premier Medical! A couple weeks ago we started a suicide prevention campaign! We wanted to get a bracelet for every student in our school. On the bracelet is a positive, inspirational message, and a hotline number if anyone is having these types of thoughts. Yesterday, Premier Medical presented us with a check that covers the cost of these bracelets! Thank you Premier Medical for supporting the Warriors! In the picture is Kim Oliver from Premier, student council advisor Bethany Farley, and some of the student council members and officer team. Go Warriors!!!
I want to send a huge shout out to all of the wonderful parents of Idabel high school who came out tonight to visit with your child’s teacher. Being involved in your kid’s life does make a difference! I was told going in to today’s conference that our record attendance rate was 20%. I believed that on our very first conference we would pass that. We offered the kids an incentive to get their parents involved. Today we set a record! We doubled our previous best and had 40% of our parents show up to the conference! That is phenomenal for the high school age! It’s a great day to be a warrior! Idabel you are the best!
Come out to parent teacher conference today at IHS! Conferences begin at 3 PM and end at 9 PM. Ask your student how they can earn an incentive if you attend!!

Lady warrior softball picks up their fourth win of the week and of the season defeating Haworth 13 to 1.
Check these pictures out from lunch today at IHS! I did not attempt to make any picture look better or worse, I wanted to show you what I saw! Remember some got more lettuce or less fruit because they get to choose how much salad and fruit to get! Also know that some had already ate part of their meal before I took their picture lol! Overall it was great! There is a 5 min pass period between advisement and lunch! Lunch officially starts at 12:00. At 12:07 the last kid was served (this is just under 400 kids and several employees in 7 minute WOW)! I just wanna say thank you to all of the wonderful (Sylvia Goodwin Carolyn Janz y’all tag the rest please) lunch ladies that worked so hard to prepare and serve our kids today. You guys knocked it out of the park. I asked several kids, they all were happy and satisfied. Great things happening at Idabel!!! (Kids in pictures were aware I was posting and approved prior to me posting) Freshmen first walk and welcome! #ipswarriors #preparingchampions #ipsnextlevelwarriors #promisingsuccessthroughaccountability
When I was able to hire Brian Wall I realized that this wasn’t just a homerun, it was a grand slam for our school. Brian is one of the sharpest people I have ever met. His ACT scores are evidence to that. He scored a perfect score in math on the ACT and a 33 overall. Now he is teaching our kids math and he gives us an upper level option! We have also teamed him with upper level English teacher Bethany Farley (whim also scored a 33 on her ACT)to teach ACT prep! When we have the best scores around, these two will be two of the big reasons why. Brian is a fourth generation Idabel educator, and the son of two well-known McCurtain County educators, Craig and Gayla Wall. We are so proud to have Brian as part of the warrior family. He is already doing great work as you can see in the pictures! Go Warriors! #ipswarriors #preparingchampions #ipsnextlevelwarriors #promisingsuccessthroughaccountability

This week has been a great start to what will be one of the best years ever for IHS! Our wonderful teachers came back so enthusiastic and ready to move forward with the different things that we have planned for this upcoming year. This year’s motto is “promising success to accountability.” We are going to raise the bar and take things to the next level. We’re going to hold everyone accountable including ourselves, staff, and all kids. We know through accountability we will truly see success. We discussed several important issues, including new policy, safety precautions for the IHS campus, reporting, new programs we can put on for our students to teach life lessons (operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or marijuana, texting and driving). We also discussed frequently and randomly bringing the drug dog to ensure our campus remains drug-free! Big things are in the future for Idabel, the school, and our city. Thank you, Chief Martin! Water update: We have minimal water pressure in the 200/400 halls. This gives us 4 working restrooms and hand washing stations!
IHS water update: Lambert Plumbing is working as we speak on the water line. He is hoping to have the water back on soon. In the mean time we are making provisions for a smooth school day. This year when we remodeled the bathrooms we put the water-less urinals in all boys bathrooms. Our maintenance director is hooking up water hoses from the ball field so that he can flush the commodes throughout the day. We have germ-ex and hand sanitizer in each classroom. Our cafeteria staff is providing water bottles to all students and we have allotted a specific time when all students can go and request water. I shared all of this information earlier to the student body over the intercom. We have prepackaged lunch that we will hand out during lunch. We will reassess the situation after lunch and Mr. Brown will make a decision at that time based on if the water is back on. I will keep you updated.
School is in session tomorrow at Idabel public schools. There is a water leak at the high school and we are temporarily without water but we have made some adjustments and plan to be able to have school. We will stay in contact with the plumber and keep everyone updated of any changes. Go Warriors!
