Working At Idabel

Regina Martin

I have always loved working for Idabel Public Schools.  There are many reasons why.  I feel that since the beginning of my career, Idabel Public Schools has always put students first. Teaching has definitely changed and evolved over the years, and Idabel has definitely kept up with the changing times.  Especially in the past decade.  I’m often asked where I teach and if I like working there.  My answer will always stay the same.  Absolutely!  More than ever, I feel that we are a family!  Warrior Nation!   The positive environment is growing, as it should.  We take pride in our schools and what we do.   I am very proud to say I have been an employee of IPS for nearly 38 years.  I don’t want to teach anywhere else, and I look forward to what the future brings

"Being part of a team of dedicated educators and staff, who strive to provide the best possible education to their students, can be a truly fulfilling experience. "

It was important for me to make a difference in students' lives by giving back to the school system in which I am a product of.

"I enjoy being an employee of Idabel Public Schools because the school system and the superintendent are extremely supportive of our program.  I enjoy all of the students that I have had the opportunity to work with. The students are hardworking and care a lot about their futures.  I am treated with respect in my position, and appreciate all the support.  I have also been able to take my students on some amazing field trips through the years.  I would not want to work anywhere else."

I have taught in Idabel for the past five years. I taught in a much larger district in Texas and retired. I always enjoyed teaching and quickly decided retirement wasn’t for me. Instead of looking forward to retirement, now I dread the day I will have to quit. Teaching in Idabel has re-energized me. The past five years have been the most rewarding of my career. I feel closer to the faculty and staff. I feel closer to the students and parents. I am more connected and involved in the progress of my students. Being a teacher here seems more of a partnership in learning and less like a part of a large organization. The budget may not be the greatest, but support from administration is always there. When I need help, it’s there. Idabel is a great place to teach.

I began working in Idabel Public Schools as a cook in the cafeteria in September of that year. I had worked my way up to managing all 4 campus cafeterias by July of 2020. I formed a close working relationship with the leadership team from our Superintendent to the building principals. In December of 2020 I was made aware of a position that had come open at Idabel Middle School as a paraprofessional. It didn't take me long to decide to apply as this would be the gateway to my dream of Teaching. I applied for that position and was hired in January of 2021. Working for Idabel Public Schools has been the best for many reasons. The most important to me is that our leadership team all individually go far above and beyond what I could ever expect from the leaders of our school district. Our Superintendent is present in every campus and knows everyone on a first name basis. And truly cares about you and your concerns when they may come up. Our Principals are highly skilled professionals and are our life line within the school. Working for Mrs. Bullock has been a true blessing. She takes the time to get to know all of her staff both on a personal and professional level. She is always open and willing to listen and provide feedback when needed. The second most important is the fact that not one position within our district is viewed any less than the other. Our support staff is just as important as the teachers and made to feel just as important. Support staff are supported and encouraged to excel! Lastly, is the love and support we all receive from our community. Our parents, students and others within the community show up and support our school district with any and everything we do. I have never experienced such support from a community until I moved here and more so after becoming part of the Warrior Family. We are a tight knit Warrior Nation and the absolute best School in McCurtain County.

Thank you Idabel Public Schools!
