The Idabel Public Schools administration has revealed what the upcoming school year will look like.

IPS is offering three options to students this fall: traditional, blended and virtual/eIDABEL. Students will be automatically enrolled as traditional students, but are able to switch to blended or virtual status students.

Traditional - students will attend school and receive instruction on-site including some online instruction in the classroom.

Blended - students will transition between traditional and virtual learning from home, as needed for intermittent health concerns. Students who choose this option will access assignments via Google Classroom (4-12 grade) or Exact Path (K-5 grade). Students will have the option to receive on campus instruction if and when a Flex lab is operational.

Virtual/eIDABEL - students will study at home via Edmentum curriculum as assigned by a certified teacher on-staff at IPS. The teacher will set weekly learning goals that the student must meet to remain in good standing. Enrollment is a semester-long commitment and is only available to students going into K-12 grades.

Each option allows students to participate in extracurriculars, although for virtual students, this means one class on the physical campus.

“It’s a given that the school day will look different than what we have been used to,” said Superintendent Doug Brown. “Our goal is to make every effort to start school on campus as we have always done. I realize however that many factors may not allow us to do so.”

New precautions will be taken on campus, such as temperature checks, mask options when social distancing is not possible, additional disinfecting and sanitizing measures, additional lunch bells to minimize crowding in the cafeteria and more.

“The health and safety of our students and staff remain at the forefront of our planning and preparations for the upcoming school year,” said Brown. “The strength of our community has always been the support of our school district... I have the utmost confidence that together we can provide the highest quality education and learning experience for our students.”

Details on bus routes, wellness screenings and enrollment options will be released at a later date.
