Warrior Nation UPDATE  - September 4, 2020

In a spirit of transparency, Idabel Public Schools wants to make sure our parents have all the information they need to make the appropriate decisions for the safety of their children. The information below describes the current situation on our campuses districtwide pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we have had some of our Warrior family affected by this pandemic. Please understand Idabel Public Schools' staff is working diligently every day to minimize the numbers of our families impacted by this virus. 

POSITIVE TESTS

5 Total Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Tests since August 10, 2020

            3 employees (2 of the 3 have recovered as of 9.4.20)

            2 students (1 of these never was on campus and has recovered as                             of 9.4.20)

Currently (as of September 4th, 2020

            1 employee is quarantined due to a positive test (contracted away                             from school)

             1 student is quarantined due to a positive test (contracted away                                   from school)

QUARANTINE UPDATE

36 Total individuals who have been quarantined due to “close contact” 

            16 employees (7 employees will be off quarantine on Tue. Sept. 8)

            17 students (all students should be participating in virtual instruction)

            3 parents

Quarantine Breakdown

12 Employees were “exposed by close contact” during professional development/parent orientation week. (No students involved.)

4 Employees were “exposed by close contact” away from school.

3 parents were “exposed by close contact” during parent orientation. 

11 students were “exposed by close contact” away from school.

Only 6 students were “exposed by close contact” while at school.

School District Nurse, Susan Ramsey, is doing a fantastic job coordinating our contact tracing efforts with the local McCurtain County Health Department. She is personally contacting each case and verifying information and works closely with health department officials and our administrators.

REMINDER: CDC-Close Contact Definition: For COVID-19, a close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes. An infected person can spread COVID-19 starting 48 hours (or 2 days) before the person had any symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19.
