Calendar
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Over the past two days, the number of sick students at Primary South Elementary has continued to increase. Due to this rise, Primary South will transition to virtual instruction on Wednesday and Thursday of this week in an effort to mitigate the spread of illness.

Our goal is to allow time for these illnesses to subside so that students can return to school healthier next week. This temporary move is intended to help slow the spread and support the well-being of both students and staff.

Thank you for your flexibility and continued support as we work to keep our school community safe and healthy.

Again, the transition to virtual days is for Primary South students only. ALL OTHER SCHOOL sites will continue face-to-face instruction as usual.

If your Primary South student is not at school you need to contact their teacher to pick up their learning packets. Please do this immediately.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hello everyone. Due to the ongoing road conditions that were caused by the snow and ice storm this past weekend, we have made the difficult decision to close school for the remainder of the week. We want to make sure that our students, staff, faculty, and families are safe. After a lot of discussion we feel this is the best option. School will reopen on Monday, February 2nd. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school then.

Please continue to stay safe and warm.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alan Bryant, Ed.D.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Warrior Nation, once again we will not be in school tomorrow. Once again, after assessing the roads for the safety of our students and staff we have deemed the roads once again impassable for our buses. While the temperatures have increased today, the low evening temperatures are refreezing the ice on the roads. In the best interest of student and staff safety, all schools in the Idabel School District will be closed tomorrow, 1-28-2026. Once again, there will be no instruction. ANNND once again, all after-school activities, sports, and events are cancelled.

We hope alerting you early ONCE AGAIN helps ease your minds. Information regarding school and school start times on Thursday, 1-29-2026 will be shared by 5:00pm tomorrow.

Please continue to stay safe and warm.

Sincerely,

Dr. Alan Bryant, Ed.D.

Good morning, Warrior Nation!
We know many of you are closely watching the weather forecast for this weekend. As is often the case in our area, predictions for precipitation type and accumulation continue to change. We understand the questions and concerns about how the weather may impact our community and school operations.

Please know that we will continue to monitor conditions throughout the weekend and will make a decision regarding school for Monday by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25. Be sure to check back here for the official update.

We are creating an online version of our Hall of Fame, past State Champions, and All-Staters. Click the link to see what has been uploaded so far.

https://www.idabelps.org/o/district/page/hall-of-fame-all-state

If you have a submission, a picture, or any kind of information that would be helpful to us, please email it to HOF@idabelps.org. Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress and we started from scratch, with nothing.

As of right now the only pictures we will be posting is for the State Champions listing. If you have an All-State picture please send it, but understand it will be awhile before those are posted. Also, the All-State track listings are all State Champions and those will be duplicated over in the coming weeks.

This is for the preservation and history of our school and community and will take all of us to compile this information.

Thank you,

Idabel

Important Graduation Update After much thoughtful discussion, Idabel High School’s Graduation Ceremony has been moved to Thursday evening, May 15th, at 7:30 p.m. on the football field. The weather forecast for Friday evening is not looking favorable. This morning, the high school leadership team and I met to carefully review all available options. Unfortunately, the auditorium does not have enough seating to accommodate everyone, and our students made it very clear that they truly want to graduate outdoors on the football field — a tradition that means so much to them. Because it is not logistically possible to set up for graduation in two places at once, we made the difficult decision to move the ceremony. We absolutely understand that this change may create challenges for some families, and we deeply regret any inconvenience it may cause. However, moving graduation indoors would have meant limiting attendance, and we know how important it is for families to celebrate this milestone together. We felt it was critical to make this decision today so families can adjust travel plans as needed. If you have any questions, please reach out to the high school directly — we are here to help. Thank you for your patience, your flexibility, and your continued support of our students. We can't wait to celebrate the Class of 2025 under the stadium lights on Thursday evening! Please help us spread the word. Updates will also be shared on our website, local radio station, and other platforms. Sincerely, Dr. Alan Bryant, Ed.D. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are, and always will be, paramount at Idabel Public Schools. We take every threat seriously, and we respond swiftly and decisively to ensure the protection of our children. Earlier today, a student reported that they believed they saw a firearm on campus at Idabel Middle School. In accordance with our established safety protocols, we immediately initiated a lockdown of the facility. Working in close collaboration with the Idabel Police Department, the McCurtain County Sheriff's Department, and the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, we conducted a comprehensive search of every student and every classroom. In today's world, we recognize that any potential threat, no matter how seemingly small, must be treated with the utmost urgency and a rapid, accurate response. We understand the concern and anxiety that such situations can cause, and we want to assure our community that we are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all our students. Following the thorough search conducted by law enforcement, no weapon was found. All students have been released to go home. We are deeply grateful for the swift and professional response of our law enforcement partners. Their dedication to our community's safety is invaluable. We also commend our students and staff for their cooperation and calm demeanor during this challenging situation. At Idabel Public Schools, we remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the children entrusted to our care. Thank You, Dr. Alan Bryant Superintendent

Idabel Middle School is currently under lockdown as a precautionary measure. Earlier today, a report was received that a student may possibly have a weapon on campus. The safety of our students and staff is our absolute priority, and we are working closely with the Idabel Police Department to ensure everyone's well-being. Dismissal will be delayed as we are systematically clearing each classroom, one at a time, with law enforcement present. This process is necessary to thoroughly investigate the situation and ensure the safety of all students and staff before they are released. We understand that this delay is inconvenient, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation.
