Dear Idabel School Family:
Our hearts are broken as we must share that an Idabel High School 10th grader passed away today. The student, whose name we cannot release due to special circumstances, was a treasured member of our school family, and we extend our sincere sympathies to her friends and loved ones.
We want to thank the EMTs and health care professionals who quickly responded to the high school campus this morning to assist with this medical emergency. I am also grateful to our students who diligently followed directions and cleared the area so medical officials could perform their critical duties.
We know this loss, along with experiencing a traumatic event, may be difficult for many students. We are here to help. If your child would like to talk with someone about their concerns or feelings, please contact the school to let us know. We have many caring professionals and school counselors who will be available to support and assist them. We want to thank the Idabel Ministerial Alliance and the tri-county Youth Services of Choctaw, Pushmataha and McCurtain County for also assisting us with counseling services at this time.
Idabel is a community where students, parents and staff take care of one another. In our school family, no one experiences pain or loss alone. Please continue to keep the student’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
